Hyderabad: Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy, President of the All India INTUC & Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Staff and Workers Union, expressed their gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the State Cabinet Ministers for accepting all their demands submitted by the Staff & Workers’ Union and Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC).

Dr. Reddy welcomed the landmark restoration of Trade Unions in Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) as a long-overdue rectification upholding democratic values and workers’ fundamental rights. This decision has restored confidence among thousands of TGSRTC employees and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to constitutional labour protections, he said.

The INTUC leader strongly condemned the previous BRS government’s anti-worker policies under K. Chandrashekar Rao, which illegally banned Trade Unions and deliberately withheld Pay Revision Commissions of 2017 and 2021. These actions caused prolonged injustice to dedicated transport workers, he stated.

The Congress-led government has demonstrated progressive labour statesmanship by addressing these historical wrongs. Dr. Reddy described this as true “Praja Palana” – people-centric governance prioritizing workers’ dignity and economic justice.

INTUC pledges continued partnership with the Telangana government to strengthen labour welfare, ensure industrial harmony, and protect workers’ rights across all sectors, he said. The press conference was addressed by Raj Reddy, Jakkula Mallesham, Abraham, and R.D. Chandra Shekar, who echoed these sentiments and commended the government’s timely intervention.

Three days after observing the strike, the employees of TGSRTC called off their strike after the State government conceded to their demands and started operating buses from Saturday morning, bringing much-needed relief for passengers.
