November is peak shoulder season: The weather can be unpredictable (but you can get really lucky), crowds are small nearly everywhere and prices are often the lowest they’ll be all year for many destinations. It is an ideal time to travel in many ways, if you’re willing to risk less-than-ideal weather in some places.
Thanksgiving also takes place in the U.S., and if you are not obligated to visit family, you can enjoy a wonderful four-day vacation without missing any school or work. And for those who love Christmas markets and lights, several spots start their displays at the end of the month.
Here are 10 great destinations to consider for your November getaway.
Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains, Morocco
This stunning desert and mountain region enjoys cooler weather in November that’s ideal for hiking in the Atlas Mountains. Meanwhile, the nearby city of Marrakech is as vibrant as ever, with more people coming out in the less-than-scorching temps that linger all summer. Wander the souk, stroll the gorgeous gardens, and visit architectural highlights without breaking a sweat.
Nov. 18 is Morocco’s Independence Day, and this year’s Marrakech Coffee & Tea Festival will run Nov. 5-7, with more than 400 exhibitors and various workshops and classes. This year’s Marrakech International Film Festival runs from Nov. 20–28.
Use points to stay at the Park Hyatt Marrakech, which opened in 2025 (rates from $594 or 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night), or check out the new Riad Beij, in the heart of the Medina (rates from $168 per night). To stay in the Atlas Mountains, you can use Virgin Red points at the luxe Virgin Limited Edition Kasbah Tamadot (rates from $577 or 140,000 Virgin Red points per night).
TPG tip: Marrakech has increased seasonal direct flight access, including a direct flight from Newark on United Airlines, which launched in 2024, and from Atlanta on Delta Air Lines, which debuted at the end of 2025.
Oaxaca, Mexico

Oaxaca’s celebration of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is legendary, especially in Oaxaca City, where festivities and commemorations take place every year from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. Expect elaborate costumes, parades, street festivals, cemetery and altar visits, and plenty of music, food and drinks.
After the city festivities, plan to stay at one of the region’s design-forward hotels. Boutique hotel 7 Casa Laurel opened in April this year, and Casa Yati opened in Ventanilla on the beach last summer. La Valise Mazunte is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World with just six suites and a villa (rates from $400 or 130,000 Hilton Honors points per night).
TPG tip: You can fly directly to Puerto Escondido on United Airlines’ Houston-to-Puerto Escondido route, which debuted in 2025. American Airlines launched its direct flights to Puerto Escondido from Dallas-Fort Worth in December 2025.
Bangkok

November is the very beginning of the dry season in Thailand, so it’s a good time to beat the winter crowds and score good airfare and hotel pricing. Nov. 24 is Loy Krathong, the beautiful floating lantern festival that lights up the Bangkok waterways on the night of the full moon in the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar. Various events happen along the Chao Phraya River, in public parks and at cultural landmarks.
The city, which has several new hotels this year, with something for almost every loyalist. Voco Bangkok Surawong opened in January 2026 (rates from 19,000 IHG One Rewards and $137 per night). Canopy by Hilton Bangkok Sukhumvit opened in August 2026 (rates from 45,000 Hilton Honors points and $170 per night). The long-delayed Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit finally opened, also in August, with LEED Gold certification, a jasmine-inspired spa, seven food and beverage outlets and 474 rooms (rates from 12,345 ALL Accor points and $278 per night).
TPG tip: Last year, United Airlines launched a new daily flight to Bangkok via Hong Kong from Los Angeles and San Francisco, making it the only domestic airline to offer a daily one-stop flight to Bangkok from the U.S.
The Amazon, Brazil

Looking for an adventure? November is the last month of the dry season to visit the Amazon, so there’s still time to squeeze in an adventure before the end of the year. If colorful birds, jaguars, river dolphins and caiman sightings aren’t enough for you, the first-ever Global Citizen music festival in the Amazon, in Belem, is Nov. 1. Global Citizen Festival Amazonia brings Brazilian music stars Anitta, Seu Jorge and Gaby Amarantos and Coldplay’s Chris Martin together with Indigenous leaders to amplify climate action campaigns.
TPG tip: Avianca flies to Belem via Bogota, Colombia, from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and LATAM flies there through Sao Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). Book a room at Ibis Styles Belem Batista Campos ($67 per night) or Grand Mercure Belem do Para ($474 per night). Both are members of Accor Live Limitless.
St. Barts

If you’ve dreamed of a vacation in St. Barts but thought you couldn’t afford it, November may be the best time to visit the gorgeous Caribbean island. You’ll enjoy warm weather, beat the winter crowds and enjoy better prices on hotels and flights. And while the French island is known for always having excellent food, November brings even more culinary star power to the isle.
The Saint-Barth Gourmet Festival is Nov. 9-15 and features five chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, including chef Amaury Bouhours of Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse and Thibault Sombardier of Les Parisiens.
TPG tip: Getting to St. Barts can be a bit of a journey if you don’t have a private jet (ahem), but Cape Air flies twice daily from well-connected St. Thomas.
Western Australia

Looking to the other hemisphere is always a good idea, and in Australia, they’re experiencing the other shoulder season: spring. In Western Australia, this means gorgeous wildflowers and some excellent festivals worth traveling for.
Foodies should plan to attend the world-renowned Pair’d Margaret River Region food and wine festival (Nov. 19-22), which brings world-class wine, food and music to the Margaret River region. This year’s lineup includes chefs Rodney Scott, Matt Abe, and Mindy Woods, as well as wine writer Erin Larkin.
TPG tip: Hyde Perth opened in March of this year (rates from $239 per night) as the first Hyde hotel in Australia, a brand from Ennismore (also behind the Hoxton, Mama Shelter, Delano, and 25Hours brands) that also has locations in London, Ibiza, Dubai, and Miami.
Palm Springs, California

Some November trips require compromising on the weather, but not in the desert. Palm Springs in November is ideal: With a daytime high of 79 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 52 degrees Fahrenheit at night, you’ll still avoid its peak tourist months, which begin in January. It’s also ideal weather to hike in nearby Joshua Tree National Park.
Though most Pride events occur in June, the Palm Springs Pride Festival is a fall event. This year, it runs from Nov. 6–8, with the big parade on the final day. Expect live music, comedy, local vendors and artists, and plenty of food and drink stands in several areas across the downtown area. The Sunset Music and Comedy Festival runs concurrently each night at the Agua Caliente Casino.
There are several new and improved attractions in the desert: The Palm Springs Air Museum recently completed a $2.5 million renovation, and reopened in September, featuring a turbine-inspired façade, new exhibits, and the Ronald M. Auen Learning Center, and DSRT Surf, a manmade surf lagoon that creates the perfect wave, every time, opened this summer in Palm Desert.
TPG tip: The iconic La Quinta Resort & Club celebrates its centennial in 2026, with special events and guest experiences all year long. It’s now a part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, so you can use and earn rewards points there (rates from 85,000 Hilton Honors points and $329 per night)
Florence, Italy

Florence in summer can be a hot, crowded mess, but come November, there are fewer crowds and mild weather (although rain is likely). It’s also truffle-hunting season in Tuscany.
Film lovers should mark Oct. 31-Nov. 8 for the Festival dei Popoli, Europe’s oldest international documentary film festival. And Nov. 29 brings runners from around the world to the Estra Firenze Marathon. Finally, most Christmas markets open around the city in the last week of November.
TPG tip: The city recently welcomed Borgo Pignano Florence, set on a 5-acre estate with 11 historic buildings and 32 rooms and is part of Relais & Chateaux. La Resérve Firenze opened Oct. 15 inside a restored 15th-century palazzo. If you want to use points, W Florence (rates from $507 or 70,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night) opened last year.
Las Vegas

Rev your engines for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, when Formula 1 racing comes to Sin City from Nov. 19-21.
Outside the hugely popular event, you can find some hotel and flight deals this November. And there’s still plenty to do in November beyond F1. At the Sphere, you can catch the 4D version of “The Wizard of Oz” daily throughout the month, or see Metallica Nov. 4-7, the Eagles Nov. 13-14 and 27-28.
Christmas also starts early in Vegas on Nov. 5, when the 3-acre Cactus Garden at Ethel M Chocolate Factory opens its annual lights show, and Nov. 14 at the Bellagio Conservatory, where they pull out all the stops to create a lit-up floral winter wonderland.
Foodies should also be excited: Taylor Swift favorite and NYC hotspot The Corner Store is opening its second location at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on November 9.
TPG tip: United restored its nonstop service between Cleveland and Las Vegas in September, with five flights a week and budget airline Breeze Airways added a daily route between Las Vegas and John Wayne Airport in Orange County.
Miches, Dominican Republic

November is the tail end of hurricane season so the possibilities of one hitting are slim—and there are great deals to be had, and usually, excellent weather. Miches — located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic — has been increasing its number of high-end all-inclusive resorts, and it’s typically much less crowded than Punta Cana, which is near the airport.
Hilton loyalists can turn Hilton Honors points into an all-inclusive stay at Zemi Miches Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort, Hilton’s first Curio Collection all-inclusive resort in the country. Hyatt has also planted its all-inclusive flag in Miches with two openings: Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa and Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa. At Dreams, families and kids are welcome to enjoy the beautiful beaches, pools, and many restaurants and bars, while Secrets is adults-only.
TPG tip: No matter where you stay, let the hotel arrange your transportation from Punta Cana International Airport for ease and affordability. The transportation area at this airport can be overwhelming, and after a long flight, who doesn’t want everything made easy?
