Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel puckered up as they practised their wedding vows stateside. The frontman of The 1975 is getting ready to tie the knot for real with his model fiancée.
Now, a video has captured the moment they did a trial run of their ceremony on Friday. The singer leaned his wife to be back and smacked his lips on hers while she lifted her leg in the air. He was dressed in a tuxedo and bow tie, while Gabbriette wore a stunning black overcoat that appeared to cover her white gown.
The pair seemed to be having a blast as they completed their trial run, with a photographer capturing their happiness.
The moment, captured in footage shared by TMZ, saw the happy couple head out of the Hollywood venue in a black Rolls-Royce convertible. They later ended up at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood and enjoyed a party with those close to them.
Matty, 37, and Gabbriette, 28, got engaged back in 2024. The couple were first seen together in September 2023. After their engagement was announced, Gabbriette flaunted a striking black ring on social media and wrote: “Marrying the 1975 is very Brat.”
Speaking of their upcoming vows, Matty’s mum, Denise Welch, said earlier this year: “Matty lives in Los Angeles, the boys aren’t in each other’s pockets, but they’re there for each other.”
Opening up on Tom Hirschsprung’s podcast, she went on: “Matty gets married in July, which we’re very excited about. I’m very excited about that, that’s wonderful.”
After their engagement was announced, Denise said on Loose Women: “I couldn’t be more thrilled. We couldn’t be happier – she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law. I’m thrilled.”
The wedding comes weeks after Matty’s ex, Taylor Swift, married Travis Kelce. Taylor and Matty split in June 2023 after months of getting close. The duo were first linked back in 2014, and they rekindled their brief romance in 2023 for less than a month. The duo got back together in May but called it quits by early June.
Taylor and Travis said “I do” at Madison Square Garden in front of 1,000 guests on July 3. All guests had been asked to hand over their phones before the ceremony so no leaks could filter from the event. Days later, Greg James let fans in on the occasion while chatting on his Radio 1 breakfast show.
He labelled it the “wedding of the century” saying “It was like going to Madame Tussauds but the wax “talked back to you”. He also revealed he stole three doilies from the wedding and handed them out to super fans outside.
He told listeners: “I had the best night. The food was plentiful and delicious.” And he also joked that while most weddings provide guests with one free drink on arrival, the showbiz power couple provided the “first 10,000 drinks free”.
