Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has joined forces with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to enhance awareness and combat cybercrime in India. His involvement is part of a campaign launched by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), which aims to create a cyber-secure environment for citizens.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah publicly thanked Bachchan for his participation, stating that it would significantly advance the government’s efforts to ensure a safe cyberspace in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Shah highlighted the importance of Bachchan’s role, saying, “The I4C has taken several steps in this direction. I thank Shri @SrBachchan Ji for joining this campaign. His active involvement will further accelerate our mission to build a Cyber-Secure Bharat.”
In a video message, Bachchan addressed the increasing threat of cybercrime, urging citizens to remain vigilant. He stated, “Cybercrime is a growing concern, not just in India but globally. With Home Minister Amit Shah’s insistence, I have joined this campaign. A bit of caution can protect us from cyber fraud.”
The I4C, which has been operational since 2018, focuses on a coordinated approach to tackling cybercrime, particularly against vulnerable populations. During the I4C’s first foundation day celebrations, Shah introduced several initiatives aimed at strengthening cybersecurity measures, including the Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre and a cyber commandos program.
Bachchan’s participation is expected to amplify the campaign’s reach, encouraging more citizens to engage in safeguarding themselves against cyber threats. The I4C has called on the public to join this initiative, emphasizing the collective responsibility in building a #CyberSecureBharat.
