Amid the frenzy, tickets to see The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm surged to USD 500 to USD 1000 on eBay with shows in New York, Texas, Florida and Arizona. The pricey tickets are primarily for IMAX 70mm screening. IMAX delivers triple the resolution of standard 35mm film and is several times larger than normal screens. Additionally, The Odyssey is the first feature film to be entirely shot on an IMAX camera. Moviegoers flooded the website for tickets

As per the latest reports, tickets for the fantasy epic went live on AMC at 12 p.m. However, the queue was paused by AMC within the first half hour of the drop as people flooded the website. Soon after the tickets went live, people reported problems while purchasing the ticket, with one user reporting an error with the purchase process. Taking to social media to voice their grievances, a user wrote:

“AMC should be ashamed by today. I spent almost 2 hours trying to book tickets for IMAX 70mm tickets for ‘The Odyssey,’ but every time I reached the select ticket stage, the site would never let me progress and constantly hit me with ‘an error occurred.”

The film will be based on Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, written around the 8th century BCE. The poem revolves around the King of Ithaca, Odysseus, whose journey back home after the Trojan War was filled with challenges. In his long journey, Odysseus will encounter negative forces, including Polyphemus the Cyclops, Sirens, Calypso and the witch goddess, Circe. These encounters will delay his reunion with his wife, Penelope, who was waiting for him.
