St. John’s women’s basketball coach Joe Tartamella, entering his 15th season at the helm, knows better than to put much weight on preseason predictions.
So Tartamella didn’t give it much thought earlier this month when he learned the Red Storm checked in at No. 4 in the Big East’s preseason poll.
“We worry more about where you finish,” he said at Big East media days.
St. John’s enters the season with a mix of some continuity and fresh talent. The hope is that combination, coupled with the expanded NCAA Tournament field offering more opportunities than ever, will be enough to turn preseason promise into a March Madness berth.
