INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-7) over Tennessee Titans
The Colts haven’t exactly set the world on fire this season, but they just might be better than their 2-3 record suggests.
Indianapolis took the undefeated Chiefs to overtime in Week 2 before beating the Texans and later cruising past the Commanders, 30-13, in London.
Even in Sunday’s 34-22 loss to Pittsburgh, the Colts moved the ball well against a solid Steelers defense but repeatedly settled for field goals instead of touchdowns.
They’ve scored at least 22 points in four of five games, which should be more than enough offensive firepower to handle the Titans, who have been perhaps the worst team in the NFL this season.
Tennessee is 0-5 and averaging a horrid 11.6 points per game, having failed to reach double digits in two of its last three contests.
Things reached a new low Sunday, when the Titans managed just three points against a previously winless Texans team, averaging a pitiful 3.2 yards per play in a 26-3 defeat.
Second-year quarterback Cam Ward continues to struggle, and there have been few signs of progress from an offense that has scored 10 or fewer points three times this season.
The Colts certainly have their flaws, particularly defensively, but it’s hard to envision Tennessee taking advantage of them, given how they’ve looked through five games.
Indianapolis has also won six straight meetings against its AFC South rival.
Betting on the NFL?
Seven points is a fairly sizable spread for a 2-3 team, but against arguably the NFL’s worst offense, the Colts should have no trouble covering at home.
LAST WEEK: 1-0 (Patriots W)
SEASON: 1-4
