Tiruchy: Police detained some volunteers of the Tamilaga Makkal Jananayaka Katchi, including their president Sherif, while attempting to lay siege to the Central Prison here on Friday.
They were demanding release of all prisoners who are in jail for the last 30 years and to transfer the present Chief Secretary for preventing the release of these ‘innocent’ prisoners, most of them Muslims.
