Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Registration Department generated a revenue of Rs 1,950 crore in October 2026, marking an increase of Rs 147 crore compared to October 2025 in the previous financial year.

Minister D Lokesh Tamilselvan made these observations while chairing a performance review meeting for October 2026 at the North Chennai district registrar’s office on Wednesday.

Official sources on Thursday said the meeting was attended by deputy inspectors general of registration, district registrars (administration and audit), district revenue officers, special deputy collectors (stamps), and assistant executive engineers.

Highlighting the success of digital initiatives, the minister said since the launch of the faceless contactless document registration system by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on August 17, 2026, a total of 2,46,260 documents—including first-sale transactions of plots and apartments, deposit of title deeds, and loan receipts for banks and financial institutions—have been registered up to November 3, 2026.

Reviewing pending files, the minister instructed district registrars to ensure that registered documents are released on the same day without any delay.

He urged all officials to work diligently to prevent revenue leakage and achieve the state’s financial targets.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated an AI-driven application designed to monitor Supreme Court and High Court cases involving the Registration Department.

The application will help officials prepare counter-affidavits swiftly and expedite the department’s legal proceedings.
