A young girl has been left with serious neck injuries after being mauled by a dog in a town south-west of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to a home in Beaudesert shortly after 5pm on Thursday, and the toddler was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.

On Friday, her condition had stabilised, although she was still recovering in hospital.

In Queensland management of dogs that have attacked people or been listed as regulated – which can occur if a dog is at serious risk of attacking a person – are managed by local councils.

The Scenic Rim Regional Council said it was aware of the incident.
