Former ITV star Jake is thought to have been out partying and decided to carry on the night at the rented property.

Behind the glamour of The Only Way Is Essex, many of its stars have been plagued with tragedy. Today it was revealed that Jake Hall, who joined in 2015 as a friend of Vas J Morgan and the ex of co-star Chloe Lewis, has been found dead at a holiday villa in Majorca aged 35 after smashing into a glass door.

The former ITV star was found in a pool of blood with head wounds caused by shards of glass. He is thought to have been out partying and decided to carry on the night at the rented property.

An autopsy is due to take place in the Majorcan capital, Palma, while an investigation is being carried out by the Spanish Civil Guard, who said the incident “appears to be an accidental death”.

Hours before he died, Hall posted about his trip on Instagram including a video showing daughter River, eight, who he shares with ex-fiance and Real Housewives of Cheshire star Misse Beqiri.

The tragedy of Jake Hall is one of many sad stories to emerge from the well-known cast. Earlier this year we learnt of the sad, lonely death of former TOWIE regular and onetime ex of Vicky Pattison, Jordan Wright – known on the show for his cheeky chappy charm and party-loving lifestyle.

The 33-year-old, who had moved to Thailand for a fresh start, was found dead in March this year, face down in a drainage canal in Phuket – thousands of miles away from his loved ones, his dream of an exotic new life abroad ending in the most horrific of ways.

Seen on CCTV captured outside his hotel, Jordan’s last hours saw him acting erratically, pacing back and forth before finally disappearing from view – his final moments later leading to the isolated area where police would discover his lifeless body.

Police believed his body could have been in the canal for up to two days before being found.

Lauren Goodger, now 39, was one of the show’s original cast members, who shot to fame over her often explosive romance with Mark Wright. A single mum to her daughter Larose, four, she has been dealt some bitter blows, away from the cameras.

In July 2022, she revealed, heartbreakingly, that her newborn daughter, Lorena, had passed away, despite a “textbook” pregnancy and no complications during labour, leaving the star “broken”.

She later explained that doctors believed Lorena’s oxygen was restricted because the umbilical cord was tied in two knots around her neck. Opening up about the ‘indescribable’ grief and trauma she lives with, four years on, she told Zoe Hardman’s Made by Mammas podcast: “I go through phases and I’m like, ‘come on, you can do this, go back to the gym, be healthy.’”

However, she added: “But the trauma I’m holding on to… I’m in fight or flight, so I’m holding on to everything.”

On top of the pain of losing a child, the star’s turbulent love life has also grabbed headlines. Her ex Charles Drury, with whom she shares Larose – was cleared of assaulting her in February 2024, after she withdrew her support for the prosecution.

Another ‘OG’ cast member James ‘Arg’ Argent, 38, who frequently brought a dash of humour to the show, soon entered a dark chapter during his time on the show, which saw him develop a drug addiction – he was at one point filmed taken off a plane, covered in his own vomit.

In October 2019, ambulances were called to Arg’s house after friends and family feared he had overdosed, and he subsequently jetted off to Thailand for a spell in a rehab facility.

Most recently, however, turned even darker – as he was given a suspended sentence last May for a gender violence offence against his then-partner Nicoline Artursson while holidaying near Malaga.

Admitting, shockingly, that he had pushed her down the stairs during a heated row, the court ordered the former TOWIE favourite to attend a gender violence rehabilitation course as part of his sentence.

Ex-TOWIE regular Yasmin Oukhello, who recently revealed she is hoping to launch a new career as a singer, was involved in a horror car crash in Turkey which killed her boyfriend, Jake McLean, in 2022, after the car he was driving took a 70ft fall off a cliff.

Left with severe arm injuries, Yasmin, who joined the show in 2017, leaving in 2023, a year after the life-changing crash, admitted it had taken years of mental anguish to recover from, telling the Mirror last year that she’ been wracked with ‘survivor’s guilt’.

Revealing she was finally looking to the future, she said initially she thought, “Oh my God, what am I here for?’ It’s a weird feeling to have because you feel like you should have died. It was really traumatic – I fell into a deep depression.”

The Sugarhut nightclub, along with Sheesh restaurant, was one of the top spots for the TOWIE crew – but sadly, even the Brentwood venue has its own sad history.

Its owner Mick Norcross, father of former cast member Kirk, tragically took his own life in July 2021, amid financial concerns and depression during the coronavirus lockdowns. His son Kirk, part of the original cast, discovered his dad’s body, trying in vain to save his life with CPR.

He later admitted the discovery had led to him going his own dark path. Having previously struggled with drug addiction, he relapsed and went on a five-day cocaine bender.

Speaking to the Mirror the following year, Kirk opened up movingly about that earth-shattering moment, saying he lay next to his father and promised ‘to do his best’, after thanking him ‘for everything he did’ – admitting that the moment would be ‘etched in my mind for the rest of my life.”

He added, “I cuddled him for a while, ran my fingers through his hair. I remember it was so soft. It was that moment he died I became a man. I knew I had to try and make him proud.”
