In 2015, Trisha Krishnan got engaged to a Chennai-based businessman named Varun Manian. While her fans were eagerly waiting to see her as a bride, it was reported that the wedding was called off. According to multiple reports, it was Trisha who called off the wedding, and her decision came as a shock to many.

Trisha Krishnan revealed why she called off her engagement

As soon as the news of Trisha’s broken engagement made its way around, people started speculating about multiple reasons behind it. According to reports, Varun’s father opposed his son’s decision to marry Trisha because he wanted someone from a similar background to theirs. The reports also stated that Trisha and Varun had different perspectives towards life.

Rumours had it that Varun was also not happy with Trisha’s co-stars and the bond she shared with them, especially with Dhanush. Many reports also shared that after Trisha invited Dhanush to her engagement, Varun didn’t like it.

According to a report in OnManorama, Trisha spoke about her decision to call off her engagement and revealed the reason behind it. Elaborating on the decision she took, Trisha shared:

“That’s why my wedding was called off. The person I was supposed to marry, asked me to stop acting. Instead of films, I chose to put a full stop to my engagement. I will only take a break when I get pregnant. If I am not offered lead roles, I will do characters that suit my image but I won’t move away from the film industry. My wish is to act until my last breath.”
