Two truck drivers are feared dead after a catastrophic crash east of Perth.
Two large trucks were involved in a head-on collision on the Great Eastern Highway in Meckering about 6.45am Wednesday morning.
The crash sparked a massive fire, with one of the trucks reduced to a shell.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the scene after receiving a triple zero call from a motorist. Firefighters arrived to find the trucks fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was contained by 7.08am, and controlled by 7.40am.
There are no hazardous materials concerns after first responders initially feared there had been an explosion due to the intensity of the blaze.
Four St John Ambulance crews rushed to the scene, but have not transported anyone to hospital.
It is not yet known how many people were in the trucks.
The highway is closed in both directions, with motorists advised to seek an alternative route.
