Washington is exploring a broader European security framework intended to address all sides’ concerns and support a lasting Ukraine settlement, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and negotiator Jared Kushner has said, pledging to engage Russia through peace talks.
Writing on X on Thursday after talks with Ukraine, NATO and European partners in Brussels, Kushner said Europe and Russia had struggled “for more than 30 years” to establish a sustainable security framework.
“Decades of mistrust, competing security concerns, and the devastating consequences of this war make this an extraordinarily difficult challenge, but one that is essential to lasting peace,” Kushner wrote.
He stated that Washington’s objective is to develop “practical arrangements that address the security concerns of all sides, reduce the risk of future conflict, and create a more stable and predictable security environment.”
