Nellore: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Saturday rejected allegations regarding irregularities in Srivani ticket bookings and shortcomings in its IT system, stating that the online process is fully transparent and automated.

In a statement, the TTD clarified that the online Srivani ticket system, introduced in May 2019 with the support of TCS, has been functioning without major changes, with only periodic upgrades based on devotees’ feedback.

The TTD said tickets are allotted on a “first-come, first-served” basis and that, due to high demand, available slots are usually exhausted within one-and-a-half minutes. It said tickets are confirmed only after successful payment through the payment gateway, while failed transactions are automatically returned to the booking pool for reallocation.

Refuting claims of technical lapses, the TTD said the reappearance of tickets after a few minutes was due to failed or incomplete payment transactions and not due to manipulation. It added that similar systems are used by IRCTC and other government booking platforms.

The temple body also denied allegations that unqualified persons were appointed in the IT wing, stating that the present general manager (IT) holds M.Tech and MS qualifications with over 32 years of experience.

The TTD said features such as auto-fill, copy-paste and other methods enabling unfair booking practices had been disabled to ensure equal opportunity for devotees. It added that annual audits of all IT systems are being conducted through AP Technology Services (APTS).

Responding to allegations made by former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, the TTD said the failed booking attempt shown during his press meet was due to insufficient funds during payment processing and not because of any software malfunction.
