Twisha Sharma was a former model and actress who reportedly died by suicide on May 12, 2026, in her in-laws’ house located in Bhopal. Now, in the recent development, the Bar Council of India has suspended advocate, Samarth Singh from his legal practices, with immediate effect, in relation to the investigation of the death of his wife, Twisha. The decision has come amid significant pressure over Twisha’s case. There have been allegations of dowry harassment.

A report by Lawbeat. in revealed that the Bar Council of India has ruled that Twisha’s husband, Samarth, shall not appear, act, plead, file vakalatnamas, or hold himself as entitled to practise law in front of any court, tribunal, authority or forum in the nation. He has been suspended from practising the same until further orders are passed. Samarth’s suspension is interim in nature and shall remain till further consideration is not made by the Bar Council.

Well, the Bar Council’s action has come after the registration of criminal proceedings against Samarth in relation to Twisha’s demise at her Bhopal residence. Twisha reportedly died by suicide in just five months of her marriage. Her family has claimed that Twisha’s in-laws were mentally torturing her for dowry and were being cruel to her. Well, Twisha’s case has attracted a lot of attention as her mother-in-law, Giribhala, has been a retired judge.

The report by the publication also revealed that a lot of serious allegations have been pressed against Samarth, which are serious in nature. It has created a direct hold on the dignity and image of the entire legal profession. The Council also noted that an advocate has a special position as an officer of the court and also as a member of the legal profession. The institution needs to act whenever allegations threaten the confidence of the public in relation to the justice delivery system.

Samarth Singh got suspended from law practice when he remained untraceable for many days post the registration of the case. His appearance has followed proceedings before the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where his counsel had informed that Samarth was willing to surrender after he was not traceable for many days. The Bhopal Court on May 23, 2026, had then taken Samarth Singh into custody and had given him seven days of police remand.

Samarth Singh has been the prime accused in the Twisha Sharma suicide case. A report by the Hindustan Times stated that he was brought in front of the court following a medical examination. Well, the development came as the Madhya Pradesh High Court had given the order to conduct a second autopsy by the AIIMS Delhi team, and the state government reportedly handed the probe to the CBI.

The report further revealed that Samarth, a lawyer by profession, had withdrawn his anticipatory bail plea from the High Court. Well, later in the evening, Samarth had come in front of a district court in Jabalpur with the intention of surrendering. Although the court had not given him the permit to surrender, the Bhopal police team had taken him into custody and had left for Bhopal, according to his advocates. During the hearing, the high court had noted the cops had the right to interrogate Samarth for 24 hours before he was produced in front of the court.
