Twisha Sharma’s Mother-In-Law, Giribala Pressured Her Parents And Demanded Rs.2 Lakh During ‘Vidaai’

All hells broke when Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old model was found dead on May 12, 2026, at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills. Soon her husband Samarth Singh and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh came into the limelight as they subjected domestic and verbal abuse on Twisha soon after her marriage.

There have been many allegations levied on Twisha’s in-laws, who are under the limelight for the former model’s death. The FIR in the Twisha Sharma death case has detailed serious allegations of dowry-related harassment, financial coercion and sustained mental and physical abuse. According to the FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation, Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala demanded Rs. 2 lakhs during the vidaai ceremony.

Twisha’s family agreed to pay the amount despite it placing severe strain on their financial capacity. Despite fulfilling all of their demands, Samarth and Giribala were not happy with the marriage and claimed that the wedding expenses were “below their standards.” The FIR also alleged that Twisha was not provided money for household expenses and was instead pressured to request funds from her parents through online transfers.

Twisha Sharma’s father alleged she was abused by her husband

As per the investigation, Twisha was found hanging in her home, but her parents have called it a murder. Amid this entire case hitting the headlines, Twisha’s last messages to her mom surfaced. In the chats to her mother, Twisha indicated a pregnancy, a subsequent abortion and references to Samarth Singh questioning the paternity of the child.

Twisha Sharma’s father, Navnidhi Sharma spoke to NDTV about his deceased daughter’s husband, Samarth Singh and in-laws. He revealed that Samarth, at times, physically abused her. Navnidhi stated that early on in the marriage, his son-in-law displayed a “criminal mindset” when he became angry and pushed Twisha at the airport on the way to their honeymoon. Twisha’s father further alleged that the Singh family’s first daughter-in-law also divorced due to extreme harassment.

Giribala Singh questioned Twisha Sharma’s sexual relationships

Apart from the physical torture, Twisha was also subjected to mental harassment and character assassination from her in-laws. Amid the fiasco, a call recording surfaced where Giribala was heard speaking to Twisha’s brother, Harshit regarding her sexual life with her past partners. In the leaked audio, he was heard confronting Giribala, asking how a she could raise such deeply humiliating questions regarding her daughter-in-law’s character.

In the audio, Twisha Sharma’s mother-in-law was heard giving a fiery response to Harshit’s accusation that she had defamed his sister. She justified putting Twisha in a spot by questioning her about her past relationships and sexual history. As per her, someone who engages in physical relationships with their boyfriends will be prone to adultery even after their marriage. 

Giribala Singh made several defamatory remarks against her late daughter-in-law. After Twisha’s death, Giribala held a press conference, where she labelled the deceased as “schizophrenic” with a “troubled personality” who allegedly required constant psychiatric monitoring. She further alleged that Twisha became unstable upon learning of her pregnancy and unilaterally decided on an abortion.
