Mark Pope and his staff landed their biggest fish yet, literally and figuratively. 7-foot-5 center Cherif Millogo has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, becoming the second pledge in the class of 2027, joining Ryan Hampton.
Millogo is one of the quickest risers in America, showing outside shot-making, rim protection, and overall great mobility for a 7-footer with a 7-foot-8 wingspan. This commitment is huge for a ton of reasons; Pope finally got the guy fans had been begging to see him land.

So far, Pope has really only landed top recruits if they were from Kentucky, like Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno; other than that, it has been Trent Noah, Braydon Hawthorne, Mason Williams, and Ryan Hampton, who are all good players but weren’t necessarily ranked where Kentucky is used to seeing its commits ranked.
Until now, Pope landed a player who will be the tallest in the history of Kentucky basketball, but he’s more than just the height. The fans have rejoiced, and the nation has taken notice, so let’s look at some of the Twitter reactions to the commitment.
