Two Elderly Women From Guntur Die In Nalgonda NH Road Accident

Nalgonda: Two elderly women died and four persons were injured when a car hit a road divider and rammed another car on National Highway 65 at Kattangur in Nalgonda district due to speeding and negligent driving, police said.

The deceased were identified as Salichippala Susheela, 80, and Manduri Yashoda Devi, 80, both natives of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.

Police said the accident occurred around 12.30 pm when the car, travelling from Guntur to Hyderabad, hit the divider, crossed over and collided with another car heading from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.

Susheela died on the spot. Yashoda Devi, who was shifted to the Government General Hospital in Nalgonda, died while undergoing treatment. Four persons travelling in the Hyderabad-Vijayawada car sustained injuries and were admitted to the same hospital.

Kattangur sub-inspector Ravi Kumar said speeding and negligent driving caused the accident. A case was registered against the driver, Yedlapally Lakshmana Swamy.
