Nellore:The Additional Sessions Court in Kovur has sentenced two men to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment in a murder-attempt case.
The case, registered at Dagadarthi police station as Crime No 7/2023, relates to an attack on January 16, 2023 in Thurimerla village. Police said the accused, Jajula Srinivasulu (A1) and Mandati Suman (A2), assaulted the victim at his residence over a grudge stemming from a cricket match dispute.
One attacked him with a machete, while the other used an iron rod, leaving him seriously injured.
The court sentenced both accused to one year of rigorous imprisonment under Section 448 IPC and seven years each under Sections 307 and 326 IPC, besides imposing a fine of `1,000 under each section. The sentences will run concurrently.
Police said the conviction was achieved through effective investigation and continuous monitoring under the court monitoring system introduced by SP Ajitha Vejendla.
