Erode: Two minor girls drowned in a pond in Rayapalayam Pudur village in this district, police said on Wednesday. According to Chitode police, Anusri (13) and Dhanushkasri (13), studying class eight, went to a pond in the village on Tuesday for fishing.
As they did not return home for more than two hours, the parents grew suspicious and informed the Chitode Police and the Fire and Rescue Services. A search was conducted and the bodies were recovered from the pond.
The police suspect that the girls might have fallen accidentally into the pond while fishing.
The bodies were sent to Government Medical College Hospital here for postmortem.
Chitode Police have registered a drowning case.
