
Two persons from Odisha were killed on the spot when a container truck rammed a lorry from behind near Yelamanchili in Anakapalle district on Sunday.
Locals said the container truck was travelling at high speed when it hit the lorry, trapping the victims in the cabin. Police are investigating the accident.
30 kg cannabis seized, four held
Anakapalle district police seized around 30 kg of dry cannabis and arrested four persons near Narsipatnam while they were allegedly transporting the contraband in a car.
Police said the accused, led by R. Rajesh, had procured the cannabis in Odisha and were transporting it to Hyderabad via Narsipatnam when they were intercepted. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
Fisherman goes missing in canal
A 45-year-old fisherman, Chendadi Srinivasa Rao of Jonnalanka village, went missing in the main crop canal near Mondepulanka village in P. Gannavaram mandal of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Sunday.
According to P. Gannavaram sub-inspector Siva Krishna, Srinivasa Rao had gone fishing in the canal and did not return. Following a complaint from his family members, police launched a search operation to trace him.
