Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate after a man was found dead at a bus stop on a main road in the state’s south west in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police say St John Ambulance were called about an unresponsive man found at a bus stop on the Boulevard in Australind just after 1 o’clock Sunday morning.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found with critical injuries and was taken to Bunbury Hospital. However he was declared dead.
Police said two men in their 30s were in custody and homicide squad officers are helping with the investigation.
No charges have been laid at this time.
It has been a busy weekend for WA police across the state, with the news of the Australind death coming just hours after police announced they had arrested a man over an alleged stabbing that took place in the courtyard of Brookfield Place in the city.
Police said a group of men got in a fight outside a cafe near Brookfield Place on St Georges Terrace in the city centre late on Friday evening.
During the fight, one man was stabbed in the back.
He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital by two other men in a white Toyota Corolla hatchback, who are believed to have briefly handed him over to emergency department staff before immediately leaving.
The man, aged in his 30s, sustained life-threatening injuries and had emergency surgery. He is now in a serious but stable condition.
Police confirmed on Sunday they had since arrested a 36-year-old man from Darch over the alleged attack, and charged him with one count of grievous bodily harm.
He has been refused bail and is due before court this morning.
Earlier on Friday, police said they had since arrested and charged a teenager over an attack on an Uber driver in Perth’s north.
Officers said two young boys were collected from a house in Balga by a rideshare car, and once inside, they began threatening him and brandished capsicum spray.
The driver pulled over at a petrol station in Greenwood and got out, but the boy followed him and allegedly sprayed him.
The two boys then left on foot, but were later picked up by police.
A 15-year-old from Balga has been charged with administering poison, attempting to steal a car and aggravated arm robbery.
He was in Perth Children’s Court yesterday.
