Hyderabad:Two students were injured after an iron rod fell from the second floor of an ongoing construction site at a government girls high school in Barkas on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12.50 pm at the Government Girls High School near Jumera Hotel in Maisaram, Barkas.
Chandrayangutta police registered a case against the construction contractor following a complaint by the father of one of the injured students. According to the complaint, a 15-year-old Class 8 student suffered a head injury after the iron rod fell from the construction area. Another girl student standing nearby sustained a leg injury and suffered a fracture.
The father of the Class 8 student, an aut-rickshaw driver from Kothapet, said a teacher informed him about the incident and he rushed to the school. He shifted his daughter to a private hospital, where she received treatment.
He told Deccan Chronicle that his daughter suffered severe bleeding and required 10 stitches. He said he later approached Chandrayangutta police and lodged a complaint against the contractor.
He also alleged that the construction work was being carried out without adequate barricading or safety precautions. He initially approached Barkas Government Hospital but was told that emergency treatment was not available. The Chandrayangutta police registered a case against the contractor under Section 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for endangering life or personal safety through negligent acts.
