Former European champion and two-time Olympian Ciara Mageean has passed away at the age of 34. Ciara’s sudden passing has left her fans in a state of mourning. Ciara Mageean’s wedding snaps surface after her death
Ciara Mageean first got married to her partner, Thomas Moran, in a small civil ceremony two weeks ago in Belfast. Ciara posted several photos from the day on Instagram where she and Thomas could be seen at various landmarks throughout the city. This includes Belfast City Hall, the Titanic Docks, and the Cathedral Quarter’s umbrellas.
Ciara Mageean and Thomas Moran held a second wedding at Darver Castle over the Bank Holiday weekend, on October 25, 2026. This time, the couple made the most of the long weekend by toasting their lifelong commitment to one another in front of a wider group of family and friends at the Louth venue.
The 34-year-old shared a series of beautiful snaps from her wedding day that were taken by photographer John Gillooley just six days before her death. Recapping her big day, Ciara wrote in the caption:
“I hope you didn’t think we were skipping the party. An incredible day yesterday in beautiful @darver_castle, surrounded by the most amazing people.”

According to reports, Ciara and Thomas first met while they were studying at USD in Dublin. Thomas also had a keen interest in athletics just like Ciara, and competed in the 1500m on track. Thomas won the Griffith Avenue mile in 2019.
Over time, Thomas became one of Ciara’s training partners. He helped her get to some of the biggest championships in the world. As their bond deepened, they began dating and subsequently tied the knot.
