Hyderabad: Run-scoring dominated the second day of the HCA ‘A’ Division Two-Day League Championship with three centuries headlining the action. Hrishikesh Simha produced the innings of the round with a commanding 153 for Sporting XI, while Aryan Krishna’s unbeaten 104 guided Imperial to a successful chase. Evergreen’s declaration was built around Aniketh Reddy’s unbeaten century as batting-friendly conditions produced several imposing first-innings totals.
The standout bowling effort came from Syed Ghazi Abbas, whose disciplined spell of 5/33 powered Charminar to the only outright victory among the top-performing matches.
A number of fixtures, however, were heavily affected by rain, with several contests ending in draws after Day 2 was washed out, denying teams the opportunity to force results.
The ‘B’ Division witnessed several outstanding individual performances led by an all-round display from M. Durga Ujjwal, who followed up his double century on Monday with a five-wicket haul to propel Sri Chakra to an emphatic victory.
Smyan Bharadwaj scored 100 for Raju CC in a losing cause while B. Charan Teja Yadav bowled Continental to a five-run win with figures of 6/46.
Although numerous matches were curtailed by rain, outright victories were still achieved through disciplined bowling performances and commanding first-innings displays. Teams such as Khalsa, Hyderabad Wanderers, Nalgonda District, Postal and Nizamabad District produced convincing wins through balanced performances, while Hyderabad Titans, Team Speed and Mahadev compiled imposing totals before weather halted proceedings.
Bowling proved decisive in several completed contests, with six-wicket hauls and multiple four-wicket spells shaping results across the division. Rain, however, remained the dominant factor for many fixtures, leaving several high-scoring games unfinished.

Shringari, Ravi lead on 1st day of sailing
Hyderabad: Racing at the 6th YAI Secunderabad Club GMR Sports Youth Open Regatta got under way on Hussain Sagar on Tuesday, with light rain greeting the fleet as the first boats launched — taken by the sailing community as a blessing from the rain gods — before the weather cleared into near-ideal racing conditions.
India’s number one ranked Optimist sailors dominated their fleets. Shringhari Roy of the host, Secunderabad Sailing Club, leads the main fleet while B. Ravi Kumar of TSA is ahead in the boys’ fleet.
A breeze of 10 to 17 knots held through the day, enough to reward the sailors who read the shifts well and enough to test boat handling across every class. Three races were completed in the forenoon session and three more in the afternoon, putting all seven events on three races apiece by the close of play.
The Optimist fleets kept the race officials busy, with the youngest sailors repeatedly pushing the start line and forcing recalls before clean starts were eventually achieved.
Race organisers Ajay Patel and Arjun Pradipak, Commodore of the Secunderabad Sailing Club, said they were pleased with the opening day, with racing completed to schedule in both sessions and conditions that gave every class a fair test.

Central officials inspect facilities for Khelo Youth Games
Hyderabad: As part of the preparations for the 8th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2026, to be hosted by Telangana, a team of officials from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) visited key sports facilities in Hyderabad on Tuesday to assess their readiness for the prestigious national event.
The SAI delegation, led by Executive Director Amar Jyoti, along with Assistant Directors Madhu Harsha, Gopal Kandpal and Mohit, inspected the GMC Balayogi Sports Complex, Shooting Range, KBR Indoor Stadium, Hussain Sagar Water Sports Training Centre, Cycling Velodrome and the Lal Bahadur Stadium.
The officials reviewed the existing sports infrastructure, venue readiness, and the facilities available for athletes, technical officials and spectators.
The SAI team expressed satisfaction about the quality of sports infrastructure available in Hyderabad. They, however, suggested that minor repair and maintenance works be undertaken at a few locations.
The SAI delegation will continue its inspection tour on Wednesday by visiting the Hakimpet Sports School and sports facilities in Medchal, Karimnagar, Warangal, Hanamkonda and various other districts.
