Woodmont volleyball one win away from second-straight title

Woodmont took down Mauldin in three straight sets to advance to its second straight state championship game. The Wildcats will face Wando on Nov. 7.

Wando is notoriously a solid program with seven state championships, the last coming in 2020, and even more trips to the finals.

But the Wildcats are powered by their junior phenom and South Carolina commit Mallory Mizell, who’s likely more than prepared for the chance to make history again.

The Patriots are off to their third-straight championship appearance, and also have a chance to capture their third consecutive title.

They’ll face a team they know all too well in rival Oceanside Collegiate Academy on Nov. 5. The Patriots defeated the Landsharks in the past two state title games, including last season’s five-set thriller.

The Red Devils defeated Mountain View Prep in four sets and will face Phillip Simmons on Nov. 7 for a chance to become Class 2A champions.

Liberty has an experienced setter in senior Aubrey Moore and a veteran libero in senior libero Natalie White — and they’ll need that leadership to claim the program’s first championship.
