The United States men’s national team got on the board quickly against Turkey on Thursday night.

After an impressive first two wins of the World Cup, the Americans scored barely two minutes into their final group stage game with a goal from Auston Trusty.

An uncovered Trusty took a corner kick from Sebastian Berhalter. After a quick gather, Trusty kicked it past Turkey goalie Ugurcan Çakir and at the back post to get on the board first.

The goal was the second-fastest World Cup goal in U.S. history after Clint Dempsey’s goal just 30 seconds into the match against Ghana in 2014.

Less than seven minutes later, Turkey would even up the score with a goal from Arda Güler, its first of the tournament after two straight shutouts.

The Americans have already secured advancement out of the group stage as the top spot in the group and into the knockout stage after opening the tournament with wins over Paraguay and Australia.

It’s the first time in the modern World Cup era that the United States has won its first two group stage matches.

The United States is looking for its best-ever World Cup group stage finish with a win or draw against Turkey.
