Vernon Kay has shown no sign of reducing his popularity amid his separation from Strictly Come Dancing star Tess Daly.

When it was announced that Vernon Kay and Tess Daly had decided to part ways after 24 year of marriage, many of his fans were shocked – and new figures released today show he has a very large fanbase indeed.

The BBC revealed on Thursday that 52-year-old Vernon’s BBC Radio 2 show – which he took over from Ken Bruce in 2023 – is the most listened to on UK radio for the second year in a row with 6.6million listeners a week.

Radio 2 also held its spot as the UK’s most listened to single radio station with a weekly reach of 12.6million. In March, Vernon was the favourite to replace Scott Mills following the star’s exit – with Rylan Clark, Clara Amfo and Tony Blackburn also in the frame.
