Victoria Beckham has spoken out for the first time about her family feud with son Brooklyn Beckham, where she insisted her and David had ‘always tried to protect and love’ their children

Victoria Beckham has spoken for the first time about her family feud with son Brooklyn Beckham.

In a statement earlier this year, Brooklyn claimed his mum and dad David Beckham had “constantly disrespected” his wife Nicola Peltz, leading to a huge family fall out with no signs of it being repaired.

There has been much discussion about what might lie ahead for the family, and whilst David spoke about his children just days after the statement, Victoria has yet to directly discuss it.

Asked directly about the feud between her family and her son Brooklyn, she did not mention his name but said: “‘I think that we’ve always – we love our children so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.

“And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

Asked if she had any remorse about bringing her family into the spotlight, she added to the Wall Street Journal: “I wouldn’t say it comes with guilt, I’d say that there was a lot of adjusting from my mum and dad, when all of a sudden there were paparazzi outside their house. We’ve really taken our families on this ride with us.”

It has been alleged that David and Victoria haven’t spoken with their son since May last year, where he and Nicola did not attend David’s 50th birthday celebrations. It was claimed by Brooklyn that they flew over for it but did not attend or meet with his parents as he claimed they wanted to meet up publicly in front of cameras.

“Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,” Brooklyn claimed in his statement.

“When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.”

After the bombshell statement, David appeared at an event in Davos. In an interview at the World Economic Forum, he talked about the “mistakes” his children make in a wider discussion about social media.

“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media . . . For the good and for the bad. What kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons. I’ve been able to use my platform for my following, for UNICEF,” he had said.

“And it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children. And I have tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
