Hyderabad:A vigilance inquiry is likely into the shoddy excavation that allegedly damaged two Hyderabad Metro Rail pillars near the Iskcon‑Sri Sri Radha Gopinath Mandir in Secunderabad. The move follows an inspection of the site by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) officials on Thursday.
Work continued on Friday despite the inspection, with an excavator parked inside the site and a heavy vehicle carrying debris outside. On Thursday, only one machine — used for slab construction — was present inside the 1,000‑square‑yard HMRL land.
HMRL officials remained tight‑lipped about the inspection, which was carried out by Zruti Solutions Private Limited, where one Ramana Reddy is a director. A source said an official from the Vigilance Wing of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) also visited the site along with the HMRL team.
Officials said a report is yet to be submitted to HMRL managing director Sarfaraz Ahmad and additional managing director B. Ajith Reddy, who will decide on further action or damage‑control measures.
Sources revealed that blatant violations were spotted during the inspection. The team noted damage to pillars C‑1192 and C‑1193 on the Blue Line corridor connecting Nagole to Raidurg. Excavation was found to have been carried out dangerously close to the pillars — one adjacent to the temple and the other towards the main road — despite norms prohibiting any activity within a 4.5‑metre radius of Metro pillars.
A source added that Zruti Solutions holds parking contracts at other HMRL sites, which may be why officials were attempting to mask the observations made by the inspection team.
