On May 4, 2026, after Vijay’s newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, won the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election, ANI reached out to the actor-turned-politician’s parents to know their take on the following. Vijay’s mom, Shoba Chandrashekhar, seemed very happy with her son’s massive win. Vijay’s father, S.A. Chandrasekhar, joined in and shared that Shoba is actually Vijay’s first fan, and thus it is pretty evident that she will be happy about her son’s success. Chandrasekhar revealed that his son, Vijay, has been hopeful about doing something for the people of the South. Sharing his feelings, Chandrasekhar said:
“I am motivated. As a human, you should not only be an artist, you should have some social thinking. For last 30 years, he (Vijay) had something in his mind, that he has to do something for Tamil Nadu, slowly he has developed. Today he is going to be the Chief Minister.”
Chandrasekhar highlighted that in the last two years, Vijay’s confidence has reached great heights, and he believes that he will become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Chandrasekhar described Vijay’s win as a historical success. He mentioned how the people of Tamil Nadu love the actor-turned-politician. Chandrasekhar was quoted as saying:
“I think it’s a historical success, a historical victory for Vijay. Tamil people loved him, not only as a leader. Every lady treats him like his own son, and people treat him like their own brother. Sixty-year-olds consider him a grandson; he has developed that relationship with the public.”
