Vijayapura Police Crack Realtor Murder Case, Six Arrested

Vijayapura: Vijayapura police have arrested six persons for allegedly murdering a real estate businessman in a planned attack linked to a property dispute.

The victim, Raju Bapu Khare (42), a resident of Golden Doddi, was murdered on April 14 afternoon while he was driving towards Vijayapura in his Thar car. Police said the attack took place near an industrial godown in the Aliabad industrial area.

According to investigators, a tipper lorry rammed into Khare’s vehicle from the opposite direction. Soon after, a group of assailants who arrived on two motorcycles intercepted the car, attacked him with stones, and opened fire using pistols, killing him on the spot. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by his brother.

Given the seriousness of the case, police formed special teams under the supervision of Additional SP Ramana Gouda Hatti. Acting on leads and evidence collected from the scene, the teams tracked down and arrested six accused from different locations in the district.

Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said the arrested have been identified as Abushya Sopan Kodlekar (36), Abashya Balu Mane (35), Vageesh Shankar Pol (31), Jalinder alias Popat Mallari Hakke (29), Khanduba alias Ajit Tambe (29), and Muragu alias Maragu Uttam Hakke (24), all hailing from the Aliabad area.

Police said Abushya Sopan Kodlekar, Abashya Balu Mane and Murugu alias Maragu Uttam Hakke were traced to Khilarahatti village in Babaleshwar taluk, while Vageesh Shankar Pol, Jalinder alias Popat Mallari Hakke and Khanduba alias Ajit Gundiba Tambe were found in Kyatanakeri village of Indi taluk.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that the murder was planned over a property dispute involving the prime accused. After carrying out the attack, they fled on motorcycles, which were later abandoned at Takkalaki in Tikota taluk and near Solapur railway station before they went into hiding.

Police seized two country-made pistols, seven mobile phones, two motorcycles used in the crime, the tipper vehicle involved in the collision, and the victim’s car.

The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on April 20. Further investigation is in progress.
