Bhopal: Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh urban administration minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday became emotional with the party’s spectacular victory in West Bengal, while recounting how he was allegedly hounded by the outgoing WB chief minister Mamata Banerjee during his six-year-stint in the eastern India state to make poll preparation for the saffron outfit leading to the 2021 Assembly polls.

Almost on the verge of crying while narrating his ordeal during the period, Mr. Vijayvargiya said that heinous charges such as rape and child stealing were falsely slapped against him and BJP workers by the Mamata government to put him behind the bar then.

“I had somehow escaped from West Bengal then. I am alive today because of the blessings of Lord Hanuman. I owe my life today to Union home minister Amit Shah”, he told the reporters on the sidelines of the celebration of the party’s WB poll victory in Indore.

With his voice cracking, he claimed that he used to be surrounded by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) ‘goons’ wherever he had visited in West Bengal for the party work during the period.

“Still, I was not afraid of the intimidatory actions by the TMC hooligans. But, false charges as worse as rape and child stealing were slapped against me and the party workers to put me behind the bar. I had a fear for my life and somehow managed to escape from West Bengal”, he added.

Mr. Vijayvargiya said that “I am still haunted by these incidents”.

According to the BJP leader, over three dozen ‘false’ cases were filed against him during the period and that’s why he was asked by the party leadership not to campaign in West Bengal in the just-concluded Assembly polls.

“I cannot describe how I feel over the party’s landslide victory in WB”, he added.

Chief minister Mohan Yadav hailed the party’s ‘historic’ victory in the WB Assembly polls and said that the outgoing chief minister Ms. Banerjee had paid the price for the excesses done by her.

He also hailed the party’s victory in Assam and Puduchcheri.
