Expectations were high when the Minnesota Vikings signed Jauan Jennings in May. Many expected him to become one of the league’s better third receivers, behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Unfortunately, Jennings is one of many players on the Vikings’ offense who have underperformed through seven games in 2026. He has caught only six passes for 54 yards in the six games he has played, leading to rumors that he could be traded back to the San Francisco 49ers before next week’s trade deadline.

However, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Sunday that Jennings decided to stay in Minnesota, even though a deal was in place to send him back to San Francisco. But as long as Jennings and the Vikings’ offense keep struggling, a trade still feels possible.
This week, The Score ranked Jennings as their 20th-best trade candidate, even acknowledging Glazer’s report.
“You might be asking yourself: Why would one of the league’s best teams be looking to subtract from its roster?” Alex Chippin and Caio Miari wrote on Monday. “Well, Jennings has been a complete non-factor in Minnesota, to the point where the Vikings may prefer to give his roster spot to someone else. Jennings had a good run in San Francisco before signing with the Vikings, but he reportedly nixed a trade to return to the 49ers this year.”
As disappointing as Jennings has been, trading him to the 49ers feels like the worst-case scenario. San Francisco, like Minnesota, is currently 6-1, and the two teams face each other on November 22. So not only could Jennings potentially affect the Vikings in that particular game, but he could provide more firepower to the team that is currently their biggest obstacle to the NFC’s top seed.
The trade deadline is next Tuesday, November 10, at 3 PM CST.
