Vinay Kumar To Be New Head Of Forest Department

HYDERABAD: The state government on Friday announced that the present chief wildlife warden Vinay Kumar will head the forest department as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Forest Force). Vinay Kumar, a 1992 batch Indian Forest Service officer, was given full additional charge of the top post in the department on Friday and takes over as PCCF (HoFF) from Dr C. Suvarna, who will superannuate and retire from service on Jun 30.

Vinay Kumar is expected to receive orders placing him as full time PCCF (HoFF) in due course.

Dr Suvarna had taken charge as PCCF (HoFF) on July 11, 2025. after holding full additional charge of the post from May 5, 2025 following the retirement of her predecessor R.M. Dobriyal. Dr Survarna was the second woman IFS officer to head the Telangana forest department, after R. Shobha who took charge of the department in 2019 and retired in 2022.
