A married woman and her two children were found dead under suspicious circumstances at Vithamrajpalle in Vinukonda mandal.
The woman, Bharati, 24, got married to Nakka Sunil Reddy in 2019. They were blessed with two sons — Tejesh Reddy, 6, and Hemanatha Nagireddy, 4, but her relatives said that Bharati had been facing harassment for additional dowry from her husband and in-laws, since she got married.
On Monday night, police received information that Bharati and her two children were found dead inside their house. Vinukonda SI Prabhakar Rao and his team rushed to the crime scene and found the three bodies on the bed.
Bharati seems to have hanged herself to death, the CI said.
Following a complaint from Bharati’s maternal uncle Nagireddy, police registered a case against her husband and in-laws. As per the law, when children aged below 7 years are found dead under suspicious circumstances, investigation should be taken up in the presence of executive magistrate. Accordingly, the executive magistrate recorded the statements of Bharati’s relatives.
The report would be handed over to the police for further investigation. The bodies were examined by the tahsildar and shifted to the government mortuary in Vinukonda. Police said that the reason behind the death can be ascertained only after receiving the post-mortem report.
