Virat Kohli took the field when India met New Zealand in the second ODI at Wellington on Saturday morning.
Kohli answered his critics in fine style in the series opener, bouncing back from a golden duck in his previous outing to score 74 runs off 51 balls. The innings also brought up the 80th half-century of his ODI career.

That knock was especially welcome because his form had dipped after a spectacular start to the home series against West Indies last month. He opened that series with an unbeaten 139, but then managed only 29 and 0 in the following two matches.
A run of steady scores in New Zealand would give the team management some much-needed assurance, and Kohli the rhythm he wants before the 2027 World Cup.
