Vishnuu Vishal has confirmed that his much-anticipated collaboration with director Arunraja Kamaraj will no longer be moving forward. The actor-producer addressed the speculation surrounding the project on social media earlier this Tuesday, putting an end to uncertainty over its casting and development.

The announcement comes after Vishnuu had spent nearly a year preparing for the film, including an intensive ten-month physical and creative preparation process. The project was initially expected to go on floors after the release of Gatta Kusthi 2, and the actor had previously expressed considerable enthusiasm about bringing it to the screen.

Acknowledging the speculation surrounding the film, Vishnuu said he felt the audience deserved to hear about its status directly from the people involved. He wrote, “This project was one I had been looking forward to for the past year, and I had been preparing strenuously for it over the last ten months. It was a film I hoped to begin after the release of Gatta Kusthi 2, and I was excited to bring it to life.”

Vishnuu Vishal cites creative differences and budget concerns

According to Vishnuu, the project eventually encountered difficulties on multiple fronts, with differences over the creative direction of the film emerging alongside concerns about its budget. The actor-producer also pointed to budgeting as one of the larger challenges facing the Tamil film industry at present.

“Unfortunately, in recent times, the project has run into creative differences with the director, along with budgeting issues. Budgeting, in fact, seems to be one of the biggest challenges the industry is grappling with right now. I tried my best to make things work, but despite every effort, we have decided not to move forward with the project.”

The decision appears to have been a difficult one for both Vishnuu and Arunraja. While the actor expressed his disappointment at having to let go of a film he had invested significant time and preparation into, he also extended his best wishes to the director for his future projects.

Vishnuu further revealed that the matter will not be wrapped up immediately, with the legal settlement between the parties expected to take some time. His statement, however, suggests that the decision to discontinue the collaboration has been mutually arrived at after attempts to resolve the issues proved unsuccessful.

What is next for Vishnuu Vishal?

Despite the setback, Vishnuu appears to be looking ahead. His immediate focus is on Irandu Vaanam, directed by Ramkumar and co-starring Mamitha Baiju. The actor is also backing Yellow Yellow Dirty Fellow, which stars his cousin Rudra alongside Preethi Asrani.

“Right now, my focus is on the upcoming release of my film Irandu Vaanam and my brother’s film Yellow Yellow Dirty Fellow. Also, I’m working on something really exciting and unique, and will be dropping the official announcement very soon,” the actor-producer signed off.

For now, the Arunraja Kamaraj project joins the growing list of films that have been affected by the increasingly complicated balance between creative ambitions and production economics. For Vishnuu, however, the focus now shifts to his existing commitments and what he describes as an exciting new project waiting to be announced.
