Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker K Raghu Raghurama Krishna Raju’s land, worth over Rs 2 Crore in the city, was prone to land grabbing by land mafia, using forged documents, highlighting the loopholes in the registration system.

The incident had come to light recently. As per reports, a 333.33 sq yd plot located in Madhurawada, a prime locality in Visakhapatnam was legally purchased by Raghurama Krishna Raju way back in 1989. Its current market value is estimated to be over Rs 2 crore. According to police, a gang noticed the plot lying vacant and created fake documents by forging Raju’s signature. Using forged papers, they illegally registered the land and carried out multiple ownership transfers from one person to another.

The fraud surfaced when some individuals attempted to enter the plot and build a compound wall on May 25 and 26 this year. A friend of Raju noticed the activity and alerted him.

Raju got his original documents and the papers being shown by the gang legally verified. The verification revealed that his signature had been forged to grab the land. Following this, Raju’s representatives lodged a complaint with the PM Palem Police, seeking legal action against those who tried to encroach the land and those behind the forgery. Based on the complaint, PM Palem Police officially registered a case on June 20. An investigation is underway.
