Homicide squad detectives are investigating the “suspicious” death of a man in the regional WA town of Katanning after he was found early on Wednesday morning.
Police were alerted to the 49-year-old, who was found unresponsive on Marri Drive at the eastern edge of the town, about 5.35am.
St John WA paramedics performed emergency first-aid on the man, however he was declared dead at the scene.
A WA Police spokesperson said the circumstances surrounding the man’s death were being treated as suspicious.

Welcome to our live news blog
Good morning readers, and welcome to our live news blog for Thursday, May 14.
Making headlines today is a look at the raft of “dysfunction” sweeping WA councils from the far north of the state down to the heart of the Perth metropolitan region.
It follows the mass resignation of Shire of Carnarvon councillors last week, which resulted in the imminent appointment of a commissioner to oversee the Gascoyne council.
So, what’s behind this council chaos – and what does a former WA premier who championed local government amalgamations have to say about the whole mess?
