Popular Perth café gutted by fire

A local café in Perth’s north has been gutted by fire overnight, with crews now working to determine what caused the blaze.

The fire was first reported around 7pm at GarWyn’s Garden Cafe on Gnangara Road in Lexia.

The internal parts of the building have been badly damaged.

The café owners have been left devastated, but thankfully no one was inside at the time.

Making headlines today, free bus and train services on Sundays and for children making their way to and from school will become permanent after a trial saw a ‘significant jump’ in the number of people using public transport, the state government says.

The measure, set to cost $70 million in the state budget, was announced by Premier Roger Cook yesterday.

“Our incredibly popular free Sunday transport program will continue for another year,” he said.
