Qantas backs Flagmantle, adds more flights for AFL grand final weekend
Flagmantle is gaining momentum, so much so that Qantas has pulled the trigger early, adding extra flights from Perth to Melbourne for the AFL grand final weekend.
It comes after Fremantle had a convincing win over the reigning premiers Brisbane at the weekend, marking their 11th win in a row as they sit atop the AFL ladder after 12 rounds.
Qantas has added an extra 18 services between Perth and Melbourne for the September AFL grand final weekend, but tickets do not come cheap – with fares starting at $776 one-way.
It’s the earliest point in the season the airline has added flights for the big dance.
The flights will allow for an additional 3000 extra seats, but Qantas says it will also look to add more services closer to the finals.
The one and only time the Dockers have made the AFL grand final was in 2013, with thousands of fans making their way over to Melbourne any way they could, including by coach and multi-stop flights via other capital cities.
