WA dairy workers strike for better pay
West Australian dairy workers will walk off the job today amid an ongoing stalemate with Brownes Dairy.
A picket line of protesters has already formed early this morning at Brownes’ Balcatta office.
Transport Workers Union members are fighting for a pay rise in line with inflation, as well as better job security and parental leave.
It’s the third time the group has walked off the job since April as part of a series of rolling protests.

Here’s what’s making news across the country and around the world today:
- The federal government’s primary vote has slumped 3 percentage points to just 29 per cent after Labor broke a slew of promises on tax policy, but support has flowed to One Nation rather than the Coalition following the release of the pivotal “tough decisions” budget last Tuesday.
- Opposition Leader Angus Taylor has pledged to rewrite the Sex Discrimination Act to enshrine a definition of biological sex, after the Federal Court doubled the damages paid to a transgender woman blocked from a “woman-only” app in a landmark discrimination case.
- All four crew members ejected safely after two Navy jets collided and crashed during an air show at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in western Idaho, officials said.
Today’s weather
We’re heading into another dry week with a high bringing the fine weather. It is warming up from Tuesday getting as high as 26 degrees. Let’s hope there’s some decent rain around the corner.
