Warangal: The state government has approved five projects worth Rs 382 crore for Warangal, focusing on tourism, heritage conservation and civic infrastructure.

Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (Kuda) chairperson Gundu Sudharani announced the approvals and thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for sanctioning the projects aimed at preserving the city’s historical significance and improving urban amenities.

The restoration of the historic fort moats of Warangal, a legacy of the Kakatiya dynasty, is among the major projects. The initiative aims to preserve the city’s heritage and improve the area as a tourist attraction.

The proposed Hanamkonda Central Plaza is expected to provide modern urban spaces and improve amenities for residents. An integrated bus terminal is also planned to improve passenger facilities and strengthen the city’s transport infrastructure.

Another project involves developing the surroundings of the Thousand Pillar Temple, known for its Kakatiya architecture and stone carvings. A musical garden is the fifth project, intended to expand the city’s recreational and tourism facilities.

The projects combine heritage conservation with infrastructure development and tourism promotion. Their progress will depend on the release of funds, commencement of work and completion within the stipulated timelines.
