Outpatient (OP) services at the Warangal super speciality hospital, which is expected to address the long-standing healthcare needs of people in the erstwhile Warangal district, will begin on October 20. The state government is accelerating efforts to make the hospital, equipped with advanced facilities, accessible to the public. While preparations are under way for a soft launch during Dasara, the government aims to make the hospital fully operational by December 15.
District incharge minister and state revenue, information and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, panchayat raj minister Seethakka and Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy, among others, visited the hospital building on Thursday. They assessed the facilities and the medical services set to commence.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Reddy said the government was completing the MGM Super Speciality Hospital, which had been left unfinished by the previous government, on a war footing to make it available to the public. He announced that the hospital would undergo a thorough inspection again on October 17, after which a soft launch would take place during Dasara.
He said the government was accelerating the work despite its financial constraints to ensure that OP services began on October 20.
The minister said that once the hospital became fully operational, people would be able to access advanced medical treatment in Warangal on par with the facilities available in Hyderabad. Apart from the erstwhile Warangal district, patients from distant districts such as Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam were also expected to benefit from the hospital.
He said the government aimed to reduce people’s dependence on expensive private healthcare and provide quality treatment through government hospitals.
Full-fledged services by December 15
The launch of OP services will mark the beginning of medical operations at the hospital, with additional facilities expected to be introduced in phases. Srinivas Reddy said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was taking a special initiative to ensure that the hospital became fully operational by December 15.
The hospital’s commissioning is expected to bring a significant change to Warangal’s healthcare sector and improve access to advanced medical services for people across northern and central Telangana.
