WARANGAL: Warangal West MLA Naini Rajendar Reddy has directed municipal officials to complete Desiltation and flood-prevention works in low-lying areas within 10 days, following an inspection with district collector Chahat Bajpai in Hanamkonda on Saturday.

The inspection reviewed progress of nala desiltation at Rajajinagar Nala Bridge and proposals for a new culvert and side drains along colonies between REC Road and KUC Road.

Speaking during the visit, the MLA set a deadline for completion of pending works and said preventive measures were being prioritised ahead of the monsoon to avoid waterlogging in vulnerable areas.

He said public cooperation was essential for implementation of the works and added that flood mitigation and road projects were being aligned with the city’s Master Plan and proposed underground drainage system to ensure long-term solutions.

The MLA alleged that earlier administrations had neglected infrastructure, leading to recurring traffic congestion and flooding issues, and said the present government was focusing on permanent engineering measures.

The inspection also covered traffic and road conditions from Ashok Junction to Kakatiya University Road via Buddha Bhavan. Officials examined a proposal to connect the main bus stand to KU Road through the Congress Bhavan route to facilitate RTC bus movement.

Rajendar Reddy said ₹24 crore had been sanctioned for road widening, side drains and junction development from Ambedkar Junction to Vaddepalli Church. He said foundation works would begin shortly and added that compensation issues related to affected properties would be addressed as part of the project implementation.
