Connor Murphy passed away on July 7, 2026 (ET) in Thailand following a drowning incident. While fans mourn the loss of their beloved fitness influencer, theories about the circumstances leading up to his death have gone viral. Amid that, Andrew Tate has made some shocking claims about Connor Murphy and his sudden passing.
Andrew Tate claims Connor Murphy “lost his sanity” after Ayahuasca experience
The death of fitness influencer and content creator, Connor Murphy has left the fitness world shocked. The young man was in Thailand, allegedly shooting for a documentary, when he drowned in the lake. While investigators are still waiting for the autopsy and toxicology results to confirm what led to his death, Andrew Tate has claimed that Murphy’s past use of Ayahuasca played a major role in his mental health struggles.
Andrew Tate took to his X account to comment on Connor Murphy’s death and urged people to “believe in Ayahuasca”. He alleged that he had spoken with the influencer before his death. According to Tate, Murphy had been dealing with mental health issues and was no longer the same person after travelling to Peru and taking the psychedelic brew. Tate went on to claim that Murphy “lost his sanity” after the experience.

Andrew Tate also criticised people who travel abroad in search of spiritual enlightenment through mind-altering substances. However, many social media users pointed out that it seemed Tate had confused Peru with Mexico, referring to Peru as if it were part of Mexico. He further warned viewers against taking drugs in search of self-discovery and argued that such experiences can often have lasting negative effects, which can lead one to lose their direction in life.
What is Ayahuasca?
While there hasn’t been any confirmation about what happened to Connor Murphy, Andrew Tate did not provide evidence linking Murphy’s death directly to Ayahuasca use; the speculations have ignited an intense debate. According to the National Library of Medicine, “Ayahuasca is a psychedelic plant brew originating from the Amazon rainforest. It is formed from two basic components, the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and a plant containing the potent psychedelic dimethyltryptamine (DMT), usually Psychotria viridis.”
While Ayahuasca has some medicinal and spiritual value for people in the Amazon River basin, in the West it has turned into a way to alter their mind and get high. However, it does not come without its own list of side effects. According to the Cleveland Health Clinic, in a survey of 10,000 people, about 70 per cent experienced nausea and vomiting.

A major chunk of people also experienced visual or auditory hallucinations, increased blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature, anxiety, difficulty breathing, chest pains, seizures, feeling disconnected or alone, nightmares, disturbing thoughts, feelings or sensations. The treatment comes with a high risk of an overdose as well.
Andrew Tate’s remarks sparked a divided response online, as many people didn’t agree with his comments about Connor Murphy using Ayahuasca right away. Some social media users backed his point and said drugs could have been involved in Murphy’s own personal battles over the years. A few others went further, claiming that the influencer looked a bit different after he talked publicly about psychedelic experiences, plus spirituality too.
