Waspo 98 Hannover clinched its third consecutive and seventh overall German League title.
The Hannover-based team defeated Spandau 04 3:1 in the best-of-five playoff final.
Waspo Hannover finished the season with a perfect record (14 wins in as many matches). ASC Duisburg was in 2nd place, and Spandau in 3rd.
However, Spandau defeated ASC Duisburg in the semifinals, so the top favorites from Hannover and Berlin faced off in the final.
Spandau won the first game, played in Berlin, 14:11. The series continued with two games in Hannover, and Waspo won 12:7 and 10:7.
The fourth match took place in Berlin, where the visiting team, coached by Aleksandar Radovic, dictated the pace from the very first minute. However, Spandau relentlessly pursued Waspo. The third quarter proved crucial to the game’s outcome. With two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Waspo established a big lead of 10:5. Despite Spandau’s efforts, the hosts were unable to close the gap significantly. Waspo celebrated a 14:10 victory, securing its third title.
