Hyderabad: Labour, Employment, Mines and Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy stated that the Praja Palana government was committed to restoring the past glory of Singareni by bringing in new mines and creating new employment opportunities.

The Minister descended into the underground section of the KK-V mine in Mandamarri Singareni Area along with the workers on Thursday. He inspected the working conditions inside the mine and interacted directly with the workers to understand their issues and concerns.

During the interaction, workers requested the Minister to resolve the Income Tax issues related to PRC arrears and also appealed for support in fulfilling their dream of owning houses.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the previous BRS government had completely neglected Singareni. He said the corporation was financially exploited, but not a single new mine was started during their tenure.

He called upon Singareni workers to focus on achieving quality coal production while ensuring complete safety standards for workers. Later, the Minister attended as the chief guest at the felicitation programme organized for Shram Shakti Award recipient Yedukola Pawan Kumar at the KK-V mine in Mandamarri Singareni Area.

Addressing the gathering, Vivek Venkatswamy said the Kaka family shares an inseparable bond with Singareni workers. He urged both workers and officials to work collectively and responsibly for the development of the Singareni organization.

Recalling the contributions of former Union Minister Kaka Venkataswamy, the Minister said that he had secured Rs.400 crore funds for Singareni and protected nearly one lakh jobs.

He stated that the Telangana government is ensuring Singareni’s participation in coal block tenders in accordance with the laws introduced by the Central government.

The Minister also informed that the issue of Income Tax on PRCs has already been brought to the notice of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He added that MP G Vamsi Krishna is making efforts in Parliament to ensure a pension of Rs. 10,000 for retired Singareni workers.

He said that the opening of new mines would create fresh employment opportunities and that nearly 5,000 people would get jobs through the RKP Opencast Phase-2 project. The mine would be started immediately after receiving forest clearances, he added.

The Minister further assured that the issue of increasing minimum wages for contract workers would soon be resolved under the leadership of Revanth Reddy.
